“The ACE study has shown, child abuse and neglect is … the single most common cause of drug and alcohol abuse, and a significant contributor to leading causes of death such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke, and suicide.”

Childhood Trauma Test
Take a free childhood trauma test: The Adverse Childhood Experiences Test (ACEs).
The groundbreaking ACEs test, a team effort by Kaiser Permanente and CDC researchers, showed something surprising: many more people had difficult childhood experiences than anyone realized. This important study proved a clear link: the more challenges someone faced as a child (their ACE score), the higher their chances of physical and mental health problems later in life.
Be aware that questions about trauma may be triggering. If you are easily upset by references to childhood events you may want to postpone taking this test until you can take it with the guidance of a psychologist.
The answers are stored to calculate your score but are anonymous and not associated with you. They are not used for anything else. No email addresses are collected.
The results by themselves are not diagnostic of childhood trauma or posttraumatic stress disorder and are for educational and informational purposes only. Mental health diagnosis requires the expertise of a mental health professional. If you believe you may have childhood trauma or posttraumatic stress disorder, you should seek the services of a licensed psychologist experienced in trauma treatment.
