“Experiencing a traumatic event can harm a person’s sense of safety, sense of self, and ability to regulate emotions and navigate relationships.”
Jessica’s Trauma Therapy Story
Heal the past with therapy for trauma and PTSD.
Jessica was tired of it. One moment she was fine, then for no apparent reason she felt sad. Or anxious. Or just kind of out of it. Sometimes she knew what had triggered her emotions, other times she couldn’t figure it out.
She had been to one therapist after another and no one seemed able to help. It was all just talk. Truth be told; she often felt worse after therapy. Rehashing the same issues again and again — while little changed. She wondered if any therapist could help her feel better once and for all.
Then she heard about The Happiness Psychologist. Her friend told her how he had listened and helped using a new modern psychotherapy approach that was different than what she had experienced before. Jessica thought, why not try it — after all it would be great to finally feel better.
And Jessica did; she tried it. This psychotherapy for trauma was different. This time it wasn’t just talk about the thoughts in her head. She learned how trauma affects the neurobiology of the brain — and what to do about it. It was about how her memory and emotions worked. It was about the pictures in her head, and the emotions and sensations she felt in her body. It was about moving on from the trauma. To her relief, it wasn’t necessary this time to go into the details of her trauma again and again for the therapy to be helpful. She learned how to cope with emotional triggers and flashbacks. And best of all, she finally found a therapy she could believe in that gave her hope for overcoming her trauma and feeling normal again.
Jessica’s only regret was that she hadn’t found The Happiness Psychologist first and made an appointment sooner.
